Adam Lambert mention:

In an email, Adam Lambert said, “When I was in the final stages of ‘American Idol,’ Elton hand-wrote me a note wishing me luck and praising my run on the show.” Mr. Lambert, who came out after his “Idol” season ended, added that as a kid, when he first heard Mr. John’s music in “The Lion King,” “I remember the label ‘gay’ being used, but it never sounded like a negative thing. It was just a matter of fact. The focus was on his music.” Only later, he said, did he realize how groundbreaking that was.

Did anyone else notice a "missing link" in this Elton John interview? There was NO mention of Adam in the "body" of the interview, that SHOULD have led into the paragraph with Adam telling about how Elton had contacted him during American Idol. Elton undoubtedly discussed Adam during the interview..... which would be the REASON to contact Adam about Elton in the first place, and then insert Adam's response in the article.

Question... Is this an honest mistake made while cutting down the article... or is this a NY Times being "snarky" move. It wouldn't be the first time they've "dissed" Adam.

In either situation, it's really bad journalism!!!!! I would like to know what Elton John said about Adam... wouldn't you?

Good questions. I'm curious too. Adam is conspicuously absent from the core of the interview. Also, Adam didn't "come out" after Idol. He'd been out since he was eighteen.

Dee R Gee, you're right about the "coming out" error. I noticed that too, but forgot to mention it before. That's not the first time that's been said by people who didn't do their homework. I noted at the end of that article, it says.."a version of this article appears in print on January 31, 2016, on page AR15 of the New York edition with the headline: Still Boldly Living in the Flourish."

I wonder if THAT Jan. 31st version will have the Adam Lambert mention that Elton will have HAD to make in that interview. I hope some New York Glamberts can locate that article for us in the New York edition of the paper.
