"The show must go on for Queen as the rock band launch a new album including previously unheard material and tour with guest singer Adam Lambert. Video: Reuters"

Photos are screen caps from the video embedded in the article

"After over forty years in the music industry and the death of iconic singer Freddie Mercury, British rock group Queen could easily have bitten the dust."

"But the creators of global hits including "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Radio Gaga", "Killer Queen" and more said in Berlin on Thursday (December 11) that the decision to collaborate with former American Idol contestant Adam Lambert has breathed new life into their performances as they are set to launch a European tour in January and February 2015."

"...for Queen guitarist Brian May, Lambert's performances respectfully reflected the work of the original lead singer."

""It's not Freddie, you know. He doesn't for an instant try and be Freddie. But some of the stuff he brings is very, very parallel, very similar, you know, the likeness he brings, apart from the extraordinary instrument, I mean, incredible instrument he has as a vocalist. But he brings a certain amount of humour, he brings a little bit of camp, dare I say, you know, and it's all natural, you know, it just works with us. So that's my answer. It's different and it's very cool," May said."

""Yeah, I don't think we'd want to work with anybody else, actually, after working with Adam," drummer Roger Taylor added."

""You know, these songs are part of people's experience, weddings and sports events and dances and rides in the car and all that. So there's this special nostalgia in the air and I think, I think the way the show is built, it feeds right into that. Like they said, there's moments where Freddie comes up on the screen, which I think are amazing, and it's meant to kind of remind you what makes Queen the iconic band that they are," Lambert said."

"But despite their insistence on having found a kind of magic with new singer Lambert, the group wouldn't be definitively drawn on whether they would release any more newly discovered -- or newly written -- material in the foreseeable future."

""I think we're just going along with things and seeing what happens and letting things happen naturally and organically," Taylor said."

"While no longer-term commitment to projects with Lambert has been announced, with 26 tour dates planned the collaboration is unlikely to stop now."

Can these men be more adorable???!!

Dumb question. I know they can and will every time they are together on the same stage. :)

It was so moving (tearyeyed here) to listen to them, having had Queen music in my life all my life, their words just ring so true... and from the bottom of my heart I am so happy for Brian, Roger and the rest of the current Queen to have found this fountain of youth, joy, love & mutual respect in Adam --- it is a lovely, rare thing to see and experience, I'm sure they genuinely LIVE and FEEL what they are saying.

It was so wonderful to hear Adam giggle when Dr Bri made that 'camp comment'... and 'the aww, thank you' that Adam always remembers to give when he's talent and wonderful persona is appreciated...

Otherwise (and I'm a bit apprehensive to say this) they seemed more solemn (?), subdued compared to earlier press conferences... Maybe it's the end of the year (the wet and the darkness), busy season for all etc. Based on pics and vids so far there was less smiling, solemn and serious were they... (my inner yoda speaking, no cause for alarm). :)))

There are some GORGEOUS photos of Adam smiling at the photocall for this interview on other threads on this blog. I get the impression they're all pretty happy, that life seems to be going along very well for them at this point in time, and there's the brilliant QAL European tour to look forward to.

A few more notes, then I'll stop... :)

After having watched this short vid, who in their right mind can EVER say anything ugly about Adam Lambert regarding Freddie, Queen and Queen music???!!

Hopefully we get to see a vid of the whole press conference soon - these snippets are just not enough! Can often cause inaccurate interpretations by listeners/readers... (lol, my post above)

Thank you Irish Times for this great snippet! Wonder why there's no concert in Ireland?

The guys look & sound great, remembering that Dr Bri has a finger in many pies (so to speak), not just Queen & no doubt Roger is busy too - his new solo album was released recently & he may have other projects as well. They are aged 67 & 65 respectively when many men have retired or are soon to retire but Dr Bri & Roger still have plenty of get up & go in them. I hope they keep performing for as long as they want to. :x)

Blah blah. Nothing new. Same shit they've said in interviews dozens of times.

I loved when Roger sais that they only want to perform with Adam. That's an amazing compliment. At this point, I can't imagine Queen performing with anyone else but Adam as frontman.

6:21, This may be "same old, same old" to those of us who follow Adam very closely. But many people have never seen them interviewed together. Celebrities are used to being asked the same things over and over.

BTW, Adam looks absolutely stunning. He's a man in the prime of his life, in all his mature, handsome glory.

I love when Brian May says,
"ADAM IS LIKE A GIFT FROM GOD"!!
I feel the same exact way, every time I hear our beautiful Adam sing, or even talk for that matter!!

I hear Brian say it a lot; I am so glad that the member's of Queen and Adam's paths came together so beautifully; I guess it was just meant to be, like a "GIFT FROM GOD"!!

I always thank God for Adam.
And ask to bless him with success.
