I'm waiting for Adam to say what it means.

I'm definitely a lot more excited about Adam's musical endeavors and talents and career strides than about his tattoos (regardless how meaningful they are). Body art like that is not my cup of tea, but I respect the fact that it's a personal choice. Adam may not want to give us a detailed explanation. He probably shared enough.

When was the last time Adam explained the meaning of one of his tattoos? He stopped doing that years ago. But it's not really that hard to figure out. For people that have followed Adam from the beginning it all makes sense.

There is a fixation on 1/8th of the tattoo. Nobody knows for sure if Adam is into that enneagram stuff. Looks more like sacred geometry to me anyhow.

I find the whole tattoo detailed and graphically beautiful. Love the triangle part closer to his wrist.

I like his new ink and certain it has personal meaning to him. The tattoo is on the lower half of his arm, leaving upper arm bare at the moment. Hard to imagine what will fill that space.

Is it wrong to wish for no tats on his gorgeous neck or hands!

Adam's body, his choice, not ours to whine about.

I think the Enneagram is not the main meaning of Adam's intricate tattoo. When I first saw it, it was not the Enneagram that caught my attention; rather the swirling rings that kind of depict a wormhole / a passage through time and space. Also a small circle of Adam's skin embedded in the whole tattoo which perhaps represents Adam as part of the Universe represented by the swirling rings. Then the Enneagram is in this wormhole to represent people of different character traits; mainly to highlight diversity of the human race, a topic Adam likes. I remember he said his mission was to highlight diversity of the gay community; perhaps he feels gay people are stereotyped as if they are all the same. He sang 'Outlaws of Love' and Trespassing on his first GLAAD show.
So my general impression of the meaning of Adam's tattoo will not read as Enneagram, rather Universe, Life and Diversity and our own position in it. I think it's a wholesome depiction and should not just centre its meaning on the Enneagram which is an important component though.
Also, I doubt Adam will ponder the 9 different character traits in great detail of the Enneagram; it represents diversity a topic he believes in...and that perhaps leads to acceptance of different kinds of thinking and behaviours.

Another interesting feature on the tattoo is Adam's light circle of skin placed directly across the darkened circle of skin, in opposite facings. If you combine the light and dark circles of Adam's skin, they form a complete whole...that represents perhaps the light and dark side of Adam. These two light / black circular patches of Adam's skin may have its origin from the well-known black/white Yin Yang symbol of the east. By the way, Yin represents female and Yang, male.

@Lam-my l like your interpretation. What do you think of the geometric shapes below the circles?

Hey Deradan.....Nice to meet you again !! Well, I need to take another look. Okay, those are not so familiar to me; will try to find out. I'll address it to you...that is if I can understand those. lol!

@Lam-my, alright! I'll check back on this thread to read your findings about them. :) nice chatting with you again too!

To all, I love Adam's tats thus far. I love that all of them have deep meanings to him.

Maybe Adam's next ink will be a full body tattoo.

Deraden
After looking up quite a bit and staring at Adam's meaningful tattoo, I realise the tattoo is not focusing on the Universe; rather the Circle represents the Self.
The whole tattoo is about the Self represented by the Circle...meaning Adam, his Self consisting of his mind, body and spirit. The Enneagram and the Yin Yang parts are okay. I think Adam has found his Self meaning his self-confidence, peace of mind, direction in life; he still has a long way though.
To answer your question on the geometric shapes below the Circle / Self...This lower portion of the tattoo, I couldn't fathom not even from the texts, so I decided to look from further away. Eureka ! I saw two interlocking squares. That was the key to finding the symbolic meaning. The tattoo is highly intricate. Not easy to see the interlocking squares. Well, the interlocking squares form the basis of the lower portion of the tattoo, large and smaller ones.
The interlocking squares form an Octagram / an eight-pointed Star ! Hip Hip Hooray lol!
Now this eight-pointed Star is used in the teachings of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jewish religion.
Also, the eight-pointed Star is associated with Venus which represents sexuality, lust and beauty.
The Octagram / 8-pointed Star also represents duality like Yin Yang / male, female or spirituality, material etc.
Hey Deraden you sure gave me quite a lot of homework lol! Thanks!
