I'm a bit surprised that they picked that song. The title is very appropriate of course for what's ahead, but I think the song itself doesn't best match Adam's voice. Still, incredible performance.

It's possible they didn't chose the song... but were asked to perform it??

Strange song, but it showcases Queen and Adam and it had the crowd on their feet singing and clapping along and a long standing ovation! It worked.

I agree about the choice of this song being a strange one. With Queen's humongous catalog of hits, they could have played something else. Q+AL performed this song 2 years ago in their European tour and also on the recent one. Maybe they plan to take it out of their setlist for the upcoming tour and wanted to play it one more time? Maybe if we saw the whole show, this song may fit in with the theme and spirit of the concert.

Perhaps the song is particularly popular in Germany... anyone know??

Either way, it was AWESOME!!!!!!!

What have I just witnessed (via YouTube)?? What have I just witnessed? OMG. I have witnessed history.
Perfection is what I just heard. Absolute perfection.
If it is even possible for our Guy and Queen to sound even more at the top of their game...... They have done it.
Oh dear heavens.... This tour is going to be insane!!!!
INCREDIBLY good. Lucky lucky concert goers that will witness the perfection of perfect alliances. The cream of the crop!!!!
What an AMAZING tour we're looking at people! Whoooohoo :))))

.... And Adam sounds absolutely freaking INCREDIBLE. Even for Adam's incredibleness. Which says tons. This long break has done him great. Beyond proud!!!:))))

Adam completely, utterly, and entirely NAILED IT! He was amazing on this song. I don't have any problem with the song choice. It's a major Queen song, it shows off Adam's voice, it uses the live harmonies of the other band members and it really got the crowd into it. I think it was a win win win all around.

Brian and Roger seem to have total trust in Adam and his ability to deliver every song vocally perfectly every single time. He just never lets them down.

I thought this was great, of course, but what I notice about Adam when he is doing a duet, singing with Queen, or just being interviewed, he always makes eye contact with who ever he is interacting with. I was lucky to be in the 9th row of one of the Queen concerts, saw the GNT, and was lucky to win tickets to a radio promo for Trespassing. So after witnessing all this, I watched Queen rocks Montreal on Palladia, for about the. 5th, but the first time since seeing Adam sing with Queen..WOW, what a difference. You may hate me for seeing this, but I could see with Freddie, the lads were a backing band, but with Adam they are truly performing as an interactive group. The joy in all their faces is amazing. Bottom line, I think Roger and Brian are having more fun this time around. It is truly a beautiful thing, and I am trilled to have witnessed it live. Has anyone else felt this way? Peace out

Surprised by the song choice?!? THIS song is legendary Queen ROCK song, a team effort, and THIS also showcases their fantastic ability to do it all LIVE and give the audience "an earful" of the fabulous Queen Sound, when the whole band sings their hearts out!!! This rock song appeals to male audience, as does Brian's guitar solo - and the Helene F. audience is full of men, I read somewhere!

One of my favorite Queen songs, too! Can't wait to hear this from the official TV recording!

Allysa, I agree with you. Brian and Roger are most definitely an integral part of the show, more so than with Freddie, Imo. I think b & r are having the time of their lives.

I loved the song choice and Adam and Queen sounded fantastic!

This song did well on the charts. Not sure why people think it is a strange choice. But maybe they were expecting We Are the Champions/We Will Rock You or Another One Bites The Dust?

I never saw Freddie as the only star of Queen, with everyone else a "backing band." I don't see Brian and Tommy as being more interactive or integral to the band now than they were with Freddie.

I would agree there does seem to be more smiling. Maybe it is because this is all bonus time for them and just fun, not serious we have to climb the charts career time.

I have never seen Freddie live with Brian and Roger. It is hard to tell from the videos of their performances if they interacted more with Freddie than Adam does with B and R. Maybe we have someone here who is lucky enough to have seen Queen in their heyday and can tell us about their interactions on stage. I count myself lucky to have seen Q+AL in 2012 and this summer and there is much joy on stage that we can all see and feel. Their happiness in performing for us spills over to us in the audience and adds to the whole experience of the concert. Very special, indeed.

LOL what kind of autocorrect was that?!? Roger

could not see any but flashing lights sound was good .

I agree. Brian, Roger, John & the others were never just a backing band for Freddie. That's absolute nonsense. Freddie played to the audience much more than Adam does whereas Adam likes to interact with Brian a lot. Different approaches, both FINE!

And WHOA! The band really set this song on fire in this performance - GENIUS!!

Anonymous said...

That was a spectacular performance just unbelievable. The audience loved it a very long standing O. So very well deserved. The other duet song was not the entire song so did not see the audience reaction. But, both performances were just stunning.
I love this song and performance the entire Queen band and their astonishing front man killed it wonderful performance. Again crazy proud of Adam. Sue

10:23 PM, you are right about Freddie played to the audience much more than Adam does. Add in Adam being so inclusive by bringing the whole band, including Spike, Neil and Rufus to the stage for a final bow. The juxtaposition of those two things seems to have confused some people into thinking that makes B and R more interactive and integral now than before. It's just a different look on stage now.

We know from so many behind the scences interviews, videos, etc that it is far from the truth that Brian, Roger and John were a backing band. They were all songwriters and none backed down to another in decision making.

"MACNIFICENT BEYOND WORDS"!!! Our DREAM TEAM OF ADAM and QUEEN does it again!!!! They absolutely knocked it out of the arena! Perfect song; perfect time; perfect audience; perfect venue, and the most perfect SINGER and BAND; to give one of the most dynamic breathtaking performances that anyone would be lucky to experience, and by the response of the audience; I think that they agreed!!!!

In looking at old tapes of what I have seen only, it does seem that the whole band is more involved with Adam; and seem to be having so much more fun; and all seem to be enjoying it more!

Only natural, different time and Adam is much younger and not a part of the original band. When Freddie was alive; they were all about the same age; and the band was fighting to make a living to become the greatest band of all time; which they did; and it was more of a business and they became very rich doing it. They all seemed to enjoy it; with lots of respect for each other.

When one important member passed away; probably so much joy left all the members.

Now with Adam, who Roger and Brian feel is God sent; and said that they feel that Freddie would approve; Brian and Roger have said that neither of them really need the money now; so they are doing it for the pure joy of it.

They seem to have become alive again and are enjoying this wonderful collaboration with Adam; and the feeling from Adam seems to be very much the same. Definitely the "DREAM TEAM", as they call themselves, and I so agree.

Many of the above statements are just my personal opinion.

Off to view the videos again and again!!

@8:22 PM

Who is Tommy that you mentioned in your post???

Anonymous said...

4:13 am, typo, see 8:52 am.

Anonymous said...

Of course Brian and Roger are happy. They may not need the money but they're certainly raking it in and Adam's receiving $$$$ too.

QAL is great but I'll be so happy when Adam returns to singing his own songs.

Anonymous said...

Adam will be singing his own songs as he has said; when his album comes out; but, as he has also said, he can be involved in more that one thing at at time; like many other artists. Adam can walk and chew gum at the same time; so to speak.

Adam is so fortunate to be blessed by this once in a life time situation with Queen. I hope it can go on as long as possible.

while Adam does his on album appearances and concerts for his new album; I think he will also continue to collaborate with Queen whenever the opportunity arises. Thank God for Brian and Roger; I am pretty sure it helps his financial future a great deal!

I hope that Adam contiunes with them as long as possible; as long as he is happy with the situation. I am sure he can handle his own life more than anyone else, he is a very smart man!!

Maybe Queen and Adam can become a permanent fixture but they'll need to write some new songs and not dig more out of the vault that Freddie wrote.

Anonymous said...

6:35 AM, all members wrote songs and at one point just put all of their names on every song.

Anonymous said...

Both acts (the duet and "I want it all")are stunning performances. In spite of some doubts I had before, I am so happy Q&AL did a Rocksong in this incredible way, as I think that it stands out from the rest of the show because it was recorded for and will be shown on Christmas Day.
Concerning the duet I hope that the audience recognize that he is a brilliant solo artist, too. Therefore it would be great if his solo album will be published in the near future.

All 4 members wrote songs, and 3 great singers, as well. There's just a different feel to their live performances now. Maybe it is about the pressure being off. Anyways what's the difference, we're all having a blast.

Many fine comments and pov's here.

One thing that imo is important to remember is that the performing culture has changed so much from the early Queen days (early 70's -->). Back then the Frontman was truly that, fronting the stage and the rest of the band was more in the background, and if there was interaction it was mostly between the lead singer and lead guitarist. The same "pattern" with most of the ionic big rock bands from that time... How many of casual fans of rock music remember the names of all members playing in e.g. Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Deep Purple, Aerosmith etc., but most (perhaps) remember the names of the lead singers and the lead guitarists...

Imo comparing Queen back then (w Freddie) and now (with Adam) and drawing conclusions just by watching old vids (the guys worked together for decades in a different time under different circumstances & "vibes") and vids from the last 2-3,5 years with Adam, the natural 'theatrical' talented performer from a very early age... is just, well "unprofessional from true fans of rock music", he heh.

I love Adam and I love Queen (always have). And I thank them all! To me QAL is so much more than I ever expected to experience (and I haven't seen them LIVE!) this late in my Rock Music Fan Career! LOL

I really Want It All!!! :))))))))

I am surprised that people are surprised Queen chose this song to perform on the show. It is an incredibly powerful song and Adam takes his voice to ceiling when he sings it. Saw them perform it live this summer and it was very popular with the crowd. It is personally one of my favorites and I love this performance of it.

Anonymous said...

@7:22 AM
Of course. I know that. However, if Adam is going to record with them, they'll need new songs - not rehash old ones.

Anonymous said...

Yes Freddie, Brian, Roger & John all wrote Queen songs, together & separately, & what magnificent songs they are. :)

Anonymous said...

10:19
As we all have witnessed Adam has brought fresh attitude and his own twist to iconic Queen songs (they are never just old! decades of popularity, generations of fans to prove that!)

The Queen catalogue is huge. There are many many songs that QAL could "rehash", as you put it, and make MAGIC with them!!! NEVER put down anything those iconic music legends of Queen have created, seriously doubt you're qualified to do that.

Whatever these guys and Adam come up together musically I'll be listening!

Anonymous said...

1:21 AM
So YOU'RE qualified to make such statements about Queen?? I have been a fan of theirs since way back when .... have you??

If Adam wanted to sing covers, he could've released an album of covers Sony wanted him to make but he didn't wish to do that. He says he wants to sing original songs - perhaps you didn't know that! In any event, if he's going to continue with Queen, it'd be great if they came up with some new songs, both for Queen's old fans & their new fans.

Sorry for late response, been out of net service.

Yes, I have been a fan of Queen from the start and also a fan of Adam's since I first saw him on Idol, so doubt you can say anything re Queen or Adam I haven't heard.

QAL is a perfect match and if you read my earlier post properly I'm a happy camper what ever these guys decide to do together. Not my business to make demands.

Talking about the Sony cover crappola and Adam fronting Queen or making music (old or new) with Queen in the same paragraph shows that you don't get Adam nor what QAL is all about. Nuff said.

@2:17 AM

This is a very late response, just read the older post. Just have to say; very, very well said in your response, and so true in my opinion!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Especially, "sony cover crappola", made me laugh so hard!
exactly what it was.

QUEEN AND ADAM are Heaven to behold; no comparison!!!

Oh yes, I DO get Adam, Queen & QAL. Some Glamberts choose to live in their own little world & wear blinkers.

Thank you for your kind words, and apologies for my very very VERY late response. Can't wait for QAL to start again!

3:42
Good for you then. No need to mock any Glamberts. Trust me, wearing no blinkers here and the world is my oyester!
