Remember this fabulous moment on American Idol Season 8??

Via "The Morning Call" (Pennsylvania):

Top 5 reasons Katy Perry is a good choice for the Super Bowl halftime show

"By now you’ve likely heard that pop hit maker Katy Perry will headline the halftime show at Super Bowl XLIX on Feb. 1 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz."

"It’s a pretty good choice. Not a great one, but pretty good. Better than last year’s choice of Bruno Mars and wayyyy better than Madonna, who creaked and limped her way through the performance in 2012."

"Here are the Top 5 reasons Katy Perry will make for a successful Super Bowl Halftime show:"

"She’s big and has lots of hits"...

"She’s had good hits, and Super Bowl hits"....

"She’s current, but not too edgy".....

"Guys like her, but women do, too".....

 "She’s bigger than life":

"As much as Katy Perry is a singer, she’s more of a performer. Her songs are big, but her shows are bigger. She’s the performer who showed up on the finale of “American Idol” in 2009 in a sequined Elvis/Uncle Sam out fit with the name “Adam Lambert” (who was one of the finalists) emblazoned across the back."

She could have Adam on as a guest performer! Lots of SB Halftime performers have done that sort of thing

Adam will be in Europe performing with Queen.... And that wouldn't realistically happen right now anyway, as much as we love the thought... :))

Yep they will be in Vienna

Wow, I think this is amazingly cool! Am I making too much of this little mention? It's great imho... one more brick in the wall of Adam full on in the public consciousness. :)

(and yes, I remember that KP CAPE moment, so thrilling :))

I agree she is a good choice but I have enjoyed all the other half time shows too. They have picked well.

Gawd the you know what's are even jealous of a mention of Adam's name in an article. Lol it never ends.

The author of the article was a little off about the actual timing of the appearance (the Final 3, not the Finale) but yes, great mention, and loved that this author remembered that Katy did that for Adam..

What are you referring to, if I may ask????

10:39 here. Just read that article a second, and third, time... tbh, I kinda hate his take on pretty much else! Ugh. But it's his opinion, and it's not particularly hurtful ('though I didn't like his characterization of Madonna's performance, thought it was a bit ageist actually, I thought she rocked that performance, her voice, well, that's another story, but from a physical standpoint, which was being addressed in the author's comments towards her - she rocked it imho). Well anyway, as it relates to Adam, it's a pretty cool mention... to a big, or at least different, demographic, I would venture to guess.

10:48 I am referring to10:39 comment being insincere. IM H O

Huh. Kind of an odd thing to bring up in terms of Katy and the Superbowl but glad at an Adam mention.

If I remember correctly that writer doesn't particularly like Adam so I don't know what his agenda was on this article.

10:55 AM, surely you should be used to sincere OTT comments here by now?

11:40 yes I am and the keyword is sincere.

A few thoughts....

I posted this because of the Adam mention, which I thought was GREAT!

I don't necessarily agree with some of his other comments (re Madonna and Bruno Mars, etc.. Heaven knows what he'd have to say about Queen performing after reading what he said about "Classic acts...whose best times have passed"..). I enjoyed both performances.. And I'd LOVE to see Queen and Adam perform at half-time..but who knows if that will ever happen...

I'm not a big football fan, even though the rest of my family are (although I was more than happy that my Seattle area team, the Seahawks, won last year!) so most years I watch the Super Bowl only for the new "featured" commercials (often awesome) and the half-time show..

I don't see where the author has any hidden "agenda" one way or the other when he mentioned Katy's support of Adam on Idol. It was just his example of Katy's "bigger than life" performance style.. I take it at face value here.

Seems like we don't need to read too much into this... Just a great mention of Adam!

I hope everyone reads the rest of the article posted at the link... Most (but not all) of what he says makes sense, IMO..

I agree with the article. Katy Perry puts on the perfect type of show that suits the Superbowl. It's big and colorful and over-the-top. She's as cut as can be and her songs acceptable to a wide audience. And she's a megastar. Why not? She personifies the Super Bowl's hype and larger-than-life image. She'll do a great job and people will love her.

I LOVE being reminded about that AI moment when Katy showed her cape emblazoned with Adam's name. Adam was truly surprised. By that time in the season, I was completely in love with Adam, so I jumped for joy.

@10:39 here. Done with Work today, reading back through threads... don't really know what 10:55's issue is, not a clear cut position they are taking imo (or maybe they are trying to get a rise out of people for sport), whatevs... in any event, I assure you fine readers of 24/7 here that I do sincerely think this mention, this little blurb on Adam, is, as I said originally, cool! Especially as, maybe just maybe, it will be read in a demographic outside of Adam's existing fanbase (which was my real excitement).

Thanks for the posting/thread glitzy.

10:39/2:49 here. As people seem to be quite sensitive today, in my comment above I said "Blurb on Adam"... The "blurb" is on Katy, I get it... and not that it matters, I actually own ALL of Katy's music, have seen her movie, and think her story, and her perseverance, is amazing; I really like her!

I think Katy is a perfect choice, she's pretty, peppy and fun......just right for the Super Bowl crowd.

She's like a singing cheerleader! And....I've wanted to give her a hug ever since she wore her Adam Lambert cape!
