Yea Adam knows all about AI, from literally the get-go to the get-all ! In Adam's case it's a rather deja-vu thing...like from Mama To MAMA! and that spanned 6 years to date. Exactly what Adam advised, if you can't stand the high pressure/nerves, this is probably not the show for you. But even those who could take the pressure didn't exactly shoot right to the top though their presence is felt somewhat. Still remember Amber and Angie of S12 quite distinctly, very beautiful, soulful voices. Somehow, I feel if Adam was the judge then, one or both these girls would have got to the finals/S12; Adam knows impacting, distinctive voices/singing when he hears it.

He is an interviewers dream, so forth coming, just always knows the right thing to say. I am enjoying this extra little treat from American Idol, quite unexpected.

I could listen to him talk forever. So much charisma. Also, by now I am finally understanding how much Adam could bring to this show. He's been there and he has a very honest perspective based on his own experience. On the other hand, with all due respect, for a permanent judging position I would doubt that he has been in this "business" long enough. Adam definitely has to make more music and establish his "brand" even further. So, this brief appearance seems perfect! Really cool and quite flattering that he got that chance.

Adam has been performing since he was 10 . . . that's a long time to be in the business

I don't think Ellen was in the singing business at all.

Blu.....rather strong point. Also Adam has done very big productions...Hair, Wicked (pointed out by Paula) also Ten Commandments, Brigadoon, Zodiac show and of course to top it all, QAL. I think QAL finally hit home the fact, Adam far exceeds the AI judge position, like I've always maintained. I mean Adam took Queen to Japan and S Korea and Adam is loved by easterners and people all over the world.

Adam is truly an interviewer's dream. He TALKS and makes sense and sounds like the intelligent human being that he is.

Checked a few of the media sites yesterday who covered Adam as an AI judge. Most of the comments in the comment section are positive, but there are the negatives, of course. I can't believe people who say that Adam doesn't have enough "experience" to be a judge. We all know he's been performing since he was ten and has been a professional performer way before Idol. Other AI alums who have been considered to be permanent judges (KC, CU, JH, etc.) probably don't have any more performing experience than he does. And he's gained lots of music business experience in the last five years. He's very qualified, IMO. When you've done some of the high-profile gigs that he's done, you have some cred.

Adam is definitely qualified as AI judge; he himself went through vigorous voice/singing/breathing training; he said he also had formal training as an opera singer but the Rock singing/wails/screams, he internalised it himself as that couldn't be taught, if I recall right what he said on one of the earlier interviews. He mastered his breathing and singing techniques according to a very renown Soprano.
Why he didn't get selected as AI judge is I think due to his limited big business connections which AI needs; to finance itself like through advertisements, other business deals etc from conglomerates; so the more well-established celebrities would be in a position to provide that. That's business, AI has to survive too.

Having said the above, AI should give it a rethink...Adam may not have all those big conglomerate connections, but his popularity worldwide will definitely help bring home the beef and also jack up the home ratings which nose-dived since he left AI8. I would certainly watch AI if Adam was the judge!

For me it comes down to the ability to recognize what it take to be a star, like Simon once said ... We always have a winner we don't always get a star. We all know talent isn't all it takes to be a success in music ... hell sometimes it doesn't even require a huge amount of talent...it takes a whole package of things. And to become a star from a few of weeks apearances on a reaility show it is a monumental task. Let's face it Adam Lambert went into American Idol as a unknown theater kid with a love for eyeliner and black nail polish, some 10 or so weeks later he emerged a worldwide star. Who better to be able to recognize that ability in others... Oh I know Adam is one of a kind... but it still take a special quality to navagate this show with a chance of fame waiting at the end. Adam is matter craftsman and will do an excellent job in this or any judging role he's put in .

I wish I could have heard all the interviewer was saying, she didn't speak loud enough. Adams voice came across great.
In another interview, Adam was asked if he would be interested in mentoring again. He didn't exactly say no, but he did say, well, he was very busy getting his album done, and he might have another tour with Queen, so it would depend on the timing. I took that to be he wasn't real interested. He has already done it twice, so he knows all about the mentoring gig.

OT

I just finished listening to Adam's interview on Ryan Seacrest this morning and, as usual, Adam was so articulate and charming ( and quick witted and funny). He's an interviewer 's dream for sure.

After discussing Idol, Queen tour, Ryan asked Adam about his third album. Adam did disclose he's been signed to a new label but didn't want to reveal details yet. He seemed sooo excited though...as am I waiting to see what he has in store for us!

Adam is definitely more passionate about performing than mentoring/teaching. Performing has always been Adam's first love so if time doesn't allow for both, he will definitely choose performing. Yes he's now immersed in getting his 3rd album out into the world and then his own tour...a true artist always prefers to express his own passions...a lot more self satisfying and I think he earns a lot more as that would be his own business.

In regard to my earlier comment about "qualifications" as a permanent judge, I would like to specify that I was particularly referring to experience/success in the recording business. After all, Idol is primarily looking for a star who has the potential to be a successful recording artist. I am fully aware that Adam has done theater all his life and that he has had extensive vocal training. Yes, I agree that his talent, charisma, overall presence, and experiences as a former contestant are very strong traits to be able to critique others, but how long has he recorded music? Again, I am so thrilled that he got to be in the judges seat temporarily, but I am even more excited that he is re-focusing on his own music. There are still many milestones to celebrate.
