Being at the top of Movers and Shakers is why these kinds of sales are still good publicity even if the artist doesn't get money.

Adam seems to have many many people who are interested in him and his music; I guess Sony is striking while the iron is hot; and getting hotter so to speak. All about business; understandable, since they are a business. I agree with @4:27. Also will probably help the sales of Adam's new album!

I don't know what to think. I'm just going to wait and watch.

@3 55pm

You are A-OK.

This is great. Ordered mine. Go Adam! Can't wait to get it in the mail.

"Playlist" is Sony's Greatest Hits line -- almost all the covers have this weird design using three different fragments of the same photo -- but the odd thing is, it's usually for legacy artists with long chart histories, such as:

So what an honor for Adam! I imagine Sony is also anticipating this to be a HUGE year for Adam with Queen, "Lay Me Down," and his album (and who knows what else?!) and wants to cash in on it.

I'm still wondering what label Adam is going to be (or is considering to) signing with. ???

I won't buy it unless there is something new on it. Why line Sony's pockets.

Maybe Adam is back with Sony. Maybe Sony thinks Adam won't have any more music. I can't figure out what Sony is thinking. I wonder what Adam will think. He probably hasn't heard about this yet 'cause the private party seems to be an all day thing by the tweets on twitter.

4:58 #2, Sony sees $$$$$. Mostly from Glamberts but maybe from some Queen fans too.

This Tweeter knows she's being watched for news on the private party.

No thanks. I'll wait for the anticipated 3rd album or an album of Adam and Queen. I don't need to buy songs that I already have.

What's the beef with Sony? I thought Adam did the walking...Is it a bad reflection on Adam if the cd doesn't sell? Just asking..

I can't wait to share this song with you guys. An @adamlambert song mixed with 'Phantom of the Opera'.

Buy don't buy. Sounds like a lose lose deal for those of us who love and support Adam.

Adam isn't the only relatively new artist for whom Sony has done this.

Anonymous said...

I think I'll pre-order a copy now to help keep it going on Movers and Shakers. Great publicity!

Sony are getting their pound of flesh. It's all about making $$$$ to them. It's not the first time it's been done (i.e. to other artists) and it won't be the last.

It's a way for new fans to find Adam and Adam will probably make a few bucks off of it. Who cares if Sony makes money too as long as Adam benefits somehow.

Adam refused to do an Album of covers for them; so they will sell an Album of his cd's without him being on their roster, and probably without his consent; since they own the music, I guess! All about lining their pockets, always has been; always will be. That is the nature of the beast. Adam is a smart man; so he knows how these record companies are; nothing anyone can do about it!!

Someone in a previous post above, asked what's the beef with Sony? To them I would say; "let me count the ways"!

Anonymous said...

Maybe there'll be a bonus song or two that we've never heard .... wishful thinking.

Sony is in business. This is how the music business makes money. Grow up, there is no grudge against Adam, they are not out to "get him". They paid when the songs were made now they can use them as they please.
They weren't mean to Adam. They thought that after the unsuccessful Trespassing release that there were enough people who loved Adams Idol performances (all covers) that the audience would be there for a rock covers album.
Great songs with a new great twist by a great singer. It probably would have been a big seller.

Remember a gal named Susan Boyle ? Her albums were all covers and she made millions and millions. Adam chose not to do a cover album, it was a disagreement, he lost the argument and chose to leave. Why be mad at Sony? They are in business to make money. And they do! Pots and pots of it.
Adam chose to leave.

@3:54 AM, Thanks so much for your post. That's exactly what I thought also. I'm not quite understanding why some fans are mad at Sony. Your post summarized the events quite well.
