REALLY informative article that gives a lot of insight in to the marketing of a singer. There's so much more than meets the eye. Just got my Time magazine in the mail today. Saw the column on Adam and Trespassing. Nice write-up!

Extremely interesting article. Adam really bared his soul. Not sure if he really needed to tell so much of his personal life. But he apparently has a long way to go to be a huge success in his career. I agree that this album is a make it or break it one. I know us glamberts love everything he sings, but he has to reach so many other people. I think this is the most perfect time for him to sing with Queen this summer, that alone will reach other people who have never heard of him. It seems like he is getting full co-operation from RCA, and all his managers. He needs them, because he actually is brand new to this business. It takes more than a golden voice.

MotoMoto said...

All his management needs to do is getting Adam out there on tv and magazines because Adam sells himself so well with his warm personality, wit and charm. He has a good album now its just marketing himself which he is good at.

Just heard Sauli will be in a 7 page spread of Fault. I think they saw him and asked him to model for some pics because of his gorgeous profile. I don't know if there will be an interview of if its all pictorial. Didn't Rolling Stone interview also state how hot he is...Adam must be so proud. As for the crays they are practically frothing at the mouth at the thought of Sauli being in a magazine, I doubt he did it without Adam's encouragement and support. Also I'm pretty sure he did not go seeking for the opportunity but it instead came to him.

Wow Adam is getting to the top 10 at Amazon, wish the itune numbers were better but lets hope after GMA and AI they will improve!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Yea, Sauli is coming aboard the Adam starship too. Just like what I said in my most recent poem...Sauli, a star in his own right...is beginning to come to fruition. A person as calm and plucky as Sauli cannot miss! Happy for you Sauli! Like Adam, you too are a very good person. Someone who helps his Dad pull weeds in the garden, can't go very wrong in life. :)

OT - just read that Adam will be on The Morning Buzz on VHI at 10 am EST on Monday. Wow! Monday we will OD on Adam since he's to be on GMA, Billboard.com and a repeat of Kimmel at nite!! Think the VH1 and GMA are on at the same time here in LA - 7 in the morning.

OT ... but needs posting ...

For the past few weeks ADAM BTIKM has been on the HAC poll on Ryan Seacrest AT Top 40 to vote for best song of the week & has been in the #1 spot. Today it was removed so ADAM is no longer on the list ..... so I have been voting for NCOE at the "Other" space at the very bottom of the page ... PLEASE take the time to vote by entering ADAM's name & the name of the song (in full .. no initials) and help me to get NCOE at the #1 spot ... here ...

http://www.at40.com/pages/who-will-be-number-1

I believe the winner gets airplay for the week so vote as much as you can ... ~~~thanx~~~

Went to the Seacrest poll and wrote in Adam and NCOE on HAC. Since the "other" category is winning by a mile, I would assume it's mostly Glamberts voting! Hope so!

Wow, that Fault issue will zoom off the shelves with a combined full force of Adam/Sauli fans. :)

Adam should have another banner on iTunes home page for a week or so. Wished he had a product endorsement. Like for BMW or Lexus or something so it would have been shown on TV during NBA playoff. He should be on SNL. There are tons of things Adam's label and management can do to put him in more public exposure.

Anonymous said...

One thing Adam should do with the interviewers constant questions about him being gay (cause on one of the interviews he said it gets redundant) is to tactically weir answers to their questions to his music. Answer their questions briefly with couple of words and sort of nicely change the subject to reflect on his music.

Another great in-depth interview. I was laughing my butt off!
WHAT does it take to be a GLAMBERT?
"Reckless abandon!" LOL!

Adam might have a chance to meet Lisa Marie Presley on Idol..whoa, sounds sizzling. Could it have been intentional...since Adam is so sought after doing Freddie Mercury and he did Michael Jackson with such finesse and now maybe someone is thinking of reviving Elvis! Jailhouse Rock! Wow, it's like the Olympic torch relay of 4 musical Icons with Adam bringing up the rear. Sounds promising, Adam; I think you won't have to feel like an outsider for very long...Just my thoughts. :)

lam-my, Adam was the mentor on Idol for Elvis week the year after he was off AI. He was good and sang WWFM.

nice coincident Adam's IIHY mv just reached over 30,000,000 views. A few days before the Trespassing drop. Just a fun fact.

Oh yes! I remember that vividly! And while coaching one of the contestants, he told him to growl a bit more and then I heard some great Elvis sounds coming out of Adam...one for the money, two for the show... I yearned for him to sing some more of Blue Suede Shoes. LOL! His voice sounded lower than his usual but very mellow and beautiful! :)

Adam was a great Elvis mentor for that week; like when he coached another guy on Love Me Tender and told him to take a certain high note which is not in the original Elvis version. And on the actual night, Simon complimented that he never sounded that good. So as I've said, this meeting of Adam with Lisa Marie might have been intentional, maybe requested by her. Just my opinion. I have heard Lisa Marie a couple of times, she's into rock music, I think. :)

Did anyone notice in the article that NCOE doesn't even go to radio stations till May 28th? Two local radio stations have been playing it several times a day for a few weeks already. Maybe there is a chance for the other stations to start playing it...

I'd love to see the MV of NCOE come out the day Trespapssing drops. What a thrill tht would be.

I have been listening to Trespassing all week. Yes, Underneath is heartbreakingly beautiful. Shady is the funkiest song ever-sticks to your bones as you listen to it--and all the other songs on the album {with only one exception are incredible songs that I love, each for different reasons. But ,people, I can't tell you how absolutely amazing I think Runnin is! It should be played all around the world-every radio station, every venue possible. What Adam does with his voice is magical, the lyrics and message of the song are inspiring to all ages-all who have ever felt ready to give up on life ,yet will themselves to get up once again and live!!!!This is the power of song, and I don't think Adam can even begin to imagine what a gift he is to Music-and People the world over. My heart is full of gratitude to this young man tonight.

Very great and informative article! It really shows the complicated business you have to be part of to become a big star... Uh, I could never manage that game ;) But everyone can see Adam is very well prepared to that now. I love to see haw he can handle it AND at the same time be that wonderful honest himself. His strategy is to open up himself more, and stand proudly behind that.

I think this really is a second coming for Adam. Important once in a life time situation. He might gain large new fan base, if people are ready to meet "new" him, forget the false image they might have.

I have been reading some old stuff in this site lately - there was some storming going on after Adam met Sauli and a a lot of time has passed since. Maybe some "idol" fans to whom obsession was more based on fantasies than music, have found new idols for their obsessions during past 1,5 years? Do you "longtimers" have an insight to this? But I honestly think this new image and music will bring also new interest in his music. He is SO talented and unique.

Not so many people are willing to dig information about artists, read many articles etc. Most people I know, simply want to enjoy the music (if you are living the rush years of your life with a job & small kids, you hardly have time :). I believe short public eye shots are more important in giving impressions about artist - and of course music performances themselves. But we also need those deep analytic interviews and reviews - they are very valuable concerning music industry.

@motomoto, I am happy to hear Sauli has his own opportunities in US. He has his own businesses in Finnish entertainment industry, but needs to get his own profile in US too. Happy for them :)

@ lorraine,

I totally agree with you about Adam's new album and Runnin. I think Runnin is a masterpiece. Vocally, and somehow I feel it's something that hasn't been done before. That song has such a strong influence on me emotionally AND physically. And ordinary people who buy standard version don't even know it excists!

What is so genius in this album is, that it's been made for people with different tastes. Different target groups probably have different preferences. I think for the radio play and club hits are those hot dance songs. For people like me, who love beautiful ballads and great vocal runs the second half of the album is heaven. With those songs you have to stop and just listen.

But I also love the strong protest of Trespassing, funkiness on Shady and Cuckoo, simple non-electronic singing in NCOE and BTIKM.

LN gone crazy

aww, nice to see a good thread for a change...
Great articles.

I also love runnin. Can't wait for my box set which is winging its way to me as we speak.

Re Itune numbers and Amazon. Is itunes only for downloads or do they do hard copies as well?
Most people I've 'talked' to have ordered physical copies from Amazon, AO and Barnes and Noble. I think its great that most Adam fans want the actual cd.
I know some cds only get issued from Itunes as an exclusive so maybe they have higher numbers, whereas Adams can be brought from several places. Hopefully that will all add together to make good first week sales.

Anonymous said...

"RUNNIN" IS THE JEWEL IN THE CROWN OF "TRESPASSING"..WHY IS IT NOT ON THE STANDARD ALBUM???? THIS SONG IS ABSOULUTELY AMAZING..IT WOULD SOAR TO NO. 1 IN A HEARTBEAT IF ONLY PLAYED ON RADIO....PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, WHOEVER IS IN CHARGE..DO NOT LET THIS TRACK JUST SIT THERE!!!

Anonymous said...

Lisa Marie is releasing her new cd the same week as Adam so her appearance on the show is probably timed to that. I am glad he's not sharing a week with someone like Katie Perry.

I love what's happening with Sauli and Fault magazine and I feel the same way about a guy who does all the hard spring gardening work for his father's garden. (Which remids me, got a lot of weeding to do today...

Just received all the advertisements for this coming week in my local paper this morning. And as I flipped through the one for Target, there it is...the cover of Trespassing on sale May 15th, both the regular and deluxe editions. Then an e-mail from Barnes and Noble said my deluxe edition of the album is in the mail and on its way. It's going to be a great listening day when I get my copy and then go out to Target to buy another one. I hope this album does very well for Adam with help from his performance on GMA, then Idol this coming week, and any future radio promos. It seems his management team is pulling out all the stops for this album and now all we need is for the listening audience to appreciate what an amaaaazing talent Adam Lambert is.

MotoMoto said...

@ DRG,

Lol at power couple. I don't think any of the pictures will have A&S together as much as I would like it to. I hope there is some sort of interview and not just a photo spread. I am so happy that crays don't come here as often to spread hate like previous articles about Sauli. I am sure they saw him and those gorgeous cheek bones and were like 'we need the pretty...' lol. Do they ship outside of the US?

I can't wait for Adam's GMA appearance as well as Idol. I've seen quite a number of Gaga fans promoting the album as well so I hope that converts to sales. I can't wait for May 15th to go buy more Cds for my friends and family :)

MotoMoto, I'm so glad you mentioned that Gaga fans are promoting Trespassing, too. That's a major thing! I've pre-ordered a number of copies, but will buy another on May 15!

FAULT Magazine is a UK based Magazine. They will ship anywhere in the world as far as I know. There will be more info posted here I'm sure as they release the info about how and when to order, and the details of how to do so. Last time, we could "reserve" a copy with a down payment, and then pay the balance when the magazine was published. They also reduced the cost of the issue based on how many pre-orders they received. We should be hearing something soon. They are on Twitter: @FAULTMagazine and also on Facebook and give out info on both. They respond to and answer questions on both Facebook and Twitter.

@Anon 6:11 AM
That is SOOO cool that Target will be carrying BOTH the standard and the Deluxe TRESPASSING CD's in their stores.. I really hope people will buy the Deluxe as I truly feel the album is not complete without the Bonus Tracks...Each one adds so much to the total body of work within the album.. And I LOVE both RUNNIN and NIRVANA. They are among my favorite songs, and RUNNIN would be a really strong single for Adam I think..Guess we'll see what he and his label think..I suspect the next single choice might at least be partly based on the response to the music after the CD is released, which is (YAY!!) in only THREE DAYS!!!..Only 2 days if you consider that it will most likely be available on iTUNES before midnight in most US time zones, and midnight East Coast time on Monday night!! I have it pre-ordered there so I'll be monitoring iTunes that night..Plus I have my Box Set on its way..and another Deluxe ordered as well..so the wait is almost over.

I love all of the really positive reviews and buzz and media attention Adam is getting..the label and his management are really stepping up this time..

I have a friend who went to see "Dark Shadows" last night and while they were waiting, the theater played BOTH "Never Close Our Eyes" AND "Better Than I Know Myself" and advertised TRESPASSING. She was so excited and then told the people around her that Trespassing is fantastic.....I've heard from other sources that is happening all over the country..so that is EXCELLENT...RCA is pulling out all the stops to get Adam's music out there...

@daydreaming yeah its so exciting to see Gaga fans on board I saw one recommending it and he has over 43,000 followers. Just read a number of reviews where Trespassing was called the best pop album/best album of the year. Adam should be very proud for this album seems to be the one that will bring him the accolades and success he so rightfully deserves Now with his new management team and the right marketing strategies, all the hard work Adam poured into the making of Trespassing will finally pay off both musically and financially for him. Can't wait for Monday morning to see him on GMA performing NCOE and then a little later on VH1 Morning Buzz.

@4:33 This is not possible.Even Carry Underwood can't beat Adele

Anonymous said...

@5:34 Carrie did beat Adele last week. She had her third #1 billboard album. I think Adam can too, if we all buy next week.

Anonymous said...

Congratulations to Carrie Underwood. Her 4th studio album, Blown Away hit #1 on the Billboard 200, selling 267,000 copies.

Carrie Underwood easily trounces the competition this week as her fourth album, Blown Away, debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 267,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

It’s the best sales week for a country album since the Oct. 1, 2011, chart, when Lady Antebellum’s Own the Night bowed atop the list with 347,000. It’s the largest frame for a country set by a solo artist since Taylor Swift’s Speak Now sold 276,000 during the Christmas week of 2010.

The debut for Blown is also the second-largest arrival of any album in 2012. This year, only Madonna’s MDNA started bigger, with 358,000. So far in 2012, just three titles have bowed with more than 200,000 in their first week — and they are all by women. In addition to Underwood and Madonna, Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded is in the 200,000-plus debut club, as it started with 253,000.

@5:51PM You're talking about first few days. And I'm talking about week later. And this is mean that Adele still sell around 200,000 per week! I know we're doing our best. But Tresspassing is down from #11 to #16 in a few hours

For the worriers amongst (which always includes me too..):
Can we just be positive here?? Adam has not YET reached the level of popularity that Adele has achieved. Or Carrie Underwood.. Give him some time... The PR "machine" has just really started for Adam and Trespassing.. His newest single will not officially be "impacted" to radio until the 28th, although it is getting radio play and good reviews as well. Adam's new Music Video supporting NCOE will be out soon.. (YAY!!) This week will be a BIG one for him, with two major mainstream TV shows: Good Morning America, and the huge powerhouse that is American Idol, with millions of viewers, almost always the most-watched TV show in America, especially at this point in the competitions, and not just in the US but all over the world.SOOO many publications are printing stories about Adam and his new music as well. TIME Magazine, Rolling Stone, etc.. I wish Adam the best, and choose to be positive. Negativity and worry are not what we as fans need to be projecting right now..I do agree that we need to support him every way we can by buying his album and spreading the word of his album..and of him. We worry because we care, but I think we just need to be cheerleaders for Adam right now! And support him by buying his album of course!!

If Trespassing makes it to no. 1 next week on Billboard Top 200, he'll make history in US music history as first out musician making it to no. 1 on Billboard. We have to do all we can to make this happen. We are fierce army of Glamberts and we can do it. LET'S GO!

TP Album purchases should be between 5/15 through 5/20 for the first week. Make sure your Amazon delivery date falls between these dates. I changed my delivery speed and I'll get my purchases on 5/15 just to be safe.

OT ... Carrie/Adele

Adele's "21" album was #1 for 26 weeks in Australia, then in the Top 4 for a couple of weeks & back at #1 this week. Carrie's new album has debuted at #4 this week, prompted I'd say by the fact that she's touring here soon.

I wanna see Adam's new singles & album chart well in the official charts here. As yet, BTIKM & NCOE haven't entered the Singles Top 40 charts. WWFM, IIHY, FYE & the FYE album all charted really well here.

Anonymous said...

@5:56 The post from 5:35 appears to be in responce to a previous post, that Adele could not be beat not even by Carrie(which she did in US). Adam can beat her also. Come on Glamberts we can do it!!!!

One more thing: Do both the regular and the deluxe Trespassing "count?" I'm buying my last one on Tuesday and I want to buy the right one. I've pre-ordered both, but want to buy one more for the good of the cause.
